Appeal for information to help locate missing man continues

Searches for missing man Harry Harvey have continued, covering a vast search from Tan Hill down towards Reeth and Gunnerside.

Throughout Monday, 60 trained Search and Rescue Volunteers along with seven search and rescue dog handlers, have worked with local officers to conduct extensive searches of the area where Harry was last seen. The Police NPAS helicopter has also joined the search efforts.

Officers remain in and around the area to respond to any new information received about Harry’s whereabouts.

Local Policing Inspector Mark Gee, said: “Despite the searches, we are sorry to say Mr Harvey is still missing. We have growing concerns for his safety and welfare and will continue to put all our efforts into further searches tomorrow.  Officers are supporting the family during this worrying time, and I urge anyone who thinks they might have seen him to get in touch as a matter of urgency.  Any information, no matter how small or irrelevant you think it is, could be key to finding Harry.  I also again ask local residents and workers to check sheds, barns and other outbuildings. Please also keep an eye out for any discarded camping or walking equipment or clothing.”

Anyone who thinks they might have seen Harry or who has any information is asked to contact police. Dial 101, press 1 and pass information onto the force control room.
