Join in with The Dark Skies Festival as the National Park Authorities celebrate the jewels of the night sky from Friday 13th February to Sunday 1st March.
The Festival is a great opportunity to explore the beauty of the night sky and learn more about the universe we live in. With it's stunning landscapes and clear night skies free from light pollution, the Yorkshire Dales is the perfect place to enjoy the night sky at it's best and so it is no wonder it has been designated a Dark Sky Reserve by DarkSky International.
Local businesses in and around the Yorkshire Dales National Park host various events to help visitors get under the starry skies and experience the best of the Yorkshire Dales by night.
There are plenty of family friendly activities celebrating the night sky to get involved in including: Stargazing talks with expert astronomers held in some of the best locations within the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, night-time fell running, astro-photography and canoeing in the dark. There are also plenty of activities the kid's will love such as rocket making, nocturnal wildlife talks, planet trails and dark skies crafts.
