Join in with the amazing VE Day celebrations on May 8th with Skipton Town Council.
Join Skipton Town Council for the 80th Anniversary Commemoration of VE Day on Thursday 8th May 2025!
This year marks 80 years since the end of World War II in Europe, and Skipton is proud to honour this historic moment with a series of special events to commemorate Victory in Europe Day.
Here’s what they have planned:
8:00 AM - Official VE Day 80 Proclamation
Join us outside Skipton Town Hall for the official proclamation to mark the beginning of the day’s events.
6:30 PM - Ringing Out in Celebration of Peace
Listen to the bells ring out in celebration of peace, a reminder of the triumph and sacrifice that shaped our world.
9:00 PM - Service of Remembrance
Join us in the grounds of Holy Trinity Church, Skipton, for a reflective Service of Remembrance as we honour the lives lost and those who served. For all those who wish to lay a wreath, this will be done before the service.
9:30 PM - Lighting of the Beacon of Peace
To close the evening, Beacon of Peace will be lit as a symbol of hope and unity for the future.
Help Skipton get together as a community to remember, reflect, and celebrate this significant milestone in history.
The event runs from 08:00 to 21:30 on the following dates.
