Saturday April 29th is World T’ai Chi Day, and to celebrate it, there's a T'ai Chi demonstration planned in Skipton
Skipton-based Julie Jones of T’ai Chi Skipton is planning a demonstration of T’ai Chi at Skipton Canal Basin at 2pm, with a group of her pupils and teachers.
T’ai Chi is an ancient Martial Art, created many centuries ago by the Shaolin Monks in China for their defensive training. The moves have been passed down through many generations of the families practising these arts, and they are brought to Skipton by Julie, who continues the tradition of passing on these skills.
What is ‘Chi? Julie explains “Chi is your life force – it’s the energy that flows through you, giving you vitality and keeping you healthy. T’ai Chi’s origins are based on Taoist philosophy, Chinese Martial Arts and traditional Chinese medicine.”
“The moves are very slow and deliberate, and are very beautiful to watch, but feel even better to perform. T’ai Chi has been helping to keep people healthy for thousands of years, helping improve posture, balance, breathing, co-ordination and relaxation.”
Millions of people worldwide practice T’ai Chi and Julie invites you to come along to the Canal Basin in Skipton and find out why!
