A young lady is walking from Leyburn to Hawes and back in a day, carrying a four foot teddy and raising money for Zoes Place Childrens Hospice.
Sheridan Lambert will set out early on Saturday morning (17th April) from Leyburn carrying a huge teddy bear in a bid to raise £1,000 for Middlesborough childrens hospice Zoe's Place, whilst highlighting the important work then do caring for sick and terminally ill young people.
Zoe's Place is a home from home for babies/infants who have life limiting and life threatening conditions. Zoe's Place offers palliative, specialist respite, and end of life care for infants from birth to five years old. They receive very little funding and therefore rely on donations/fundraising.
Speaking live on Dales Radio this morning, Sheridan says she is doing the walk with good reason: " when I was liitle I had to go into hospital for a major opperation and really appreciated the work the nursing staff who cared for me."
"Thank you to Everyone who has Donated so far! It really means the world to not only me, but those precious little children as well! Every penny Counts. Thank you so much again, and if you're able to share my link and spread the word, I'd be most grateful. Keep those donations flowing, Keeping those children alive and happy!"
Along with the teddy, Sheridan is doing the 33 mile walk as part of her Miss Teeside Pageant. The gigantic teddy is one of two owned by the Foauntain Inn at Hawes, aptly named Jim Beam and Jack Daniels, although we have to wait until Saturday to see which will be accompanying Sheridan through Wensleydale.
You can hear the interview as a podcast on the Dales Radio Website.
If you would like to support Sheridan, please donate via her Just Giving Page, or if you are passing on Saturday on the A684 between Leyburn and Hawes, please slow down, honk your horn and throw some change in the collection buckets.
Dales Radio will be covering the walk on air on Saturday - please tune in to follow Sheridan's progress.
