After years of development, Yorkshire cheese business The Courtyard Dairy has developed a brand-new cheese-flavoured tea
"It is something we thought about many years ago," says director Kathy Swinscoe, "Yorkshire is very famous for both tea and Wensleydale cheese and we thought: how could we combine them - we'd have also got cricket in there too somehow if we could."
So working with food technology experts at Sheffield Hallam University, they developed a process to dry and powder the cheese-flavour so it could be enclosed in a tea bag and give the tea a real cheesy flavour.
Owner, Andy Swinscoe was thrilled with the outcome, "it tastes delicious - so cheesy - we've spent a lot of time working on the project and it's thrilled to see it come to fruition."
With the launch today: 'CHEESE-Y TEA' should hopefully be coming to a store near you soon!
