The Angel at Hetton has moved up the ranking to be named fourth-best in the country in the latest Top 50 GastroPub Guide.

A local restaurant has been recognised among the best in the country, while Chef Patron Michael Wignall was also named Chef of the Year for 2022.

This year's “Estrella Damm” Top 50 Gastropub Awards saw The Angel at Hetton, near Skipton, jump from 11th place to 4th in the national rankings. In the 2019 rankings it had been in 50th place on the list.

The venue already has a Michelin star, first awarded in 2019 just 12 months after Michael Wignall took over The Angel and maintained in 2021.

The latest ranking comes just months after the Hetton restaurant was placed at number 2 in the National Restaurant Awards.
