The incident involved a white milk tanker and a pedestrian. Sadly, the pedestrian, a local man who was in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the fatal collision on the A684 Harmby Road at Harmby, Leyburn earlier today.
Police were called out to reports of a serious collision that occurred eastbound on the A684 Harmby Road at 0020hrs on Tuesday 26 October 2021.
The road was closed for several hours to allow our officers to carry out investigation work at the scene. The road was reopened just before 8am this morning (Tuesday 26 October 2021).
The tanker driver is assisting us with our inquiries. We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the pedestrian, milk tanker and or any other vehicle travelling along Harmby road between midnight and 0020hrs to come forward.
