An extensive programme of resurfacing is due to begin in Catterick Garrison and Constable Burton next week.
Work will take place on the A6136 Catterick Road in Catterick Garrison between Camp Centre roundabout and Vicarage Road roundabout on Sunday, May 9, under a full road closure from 8am to 6pm.
The A684 between Constable Burton and the railway bridge at Stoop House will then be resurfaced beginning on Wednesday, May 12, for four working days. The road will be closed between the working hours of 8am and 6pm, but will be open as usual over the weekend.
Councillor Helen Grant, who represents the Central Richmondshire division, said: “I welcome the resurfacing of this well-used stretch of road in Catterick Garrison as it will bring it to a much higher standard.
“We are carrying out the work on a Sunday when the roads should be quieter, but we apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Councillor Karin Sedgwick, who represents the Middle Dales division, said: “This essential resurfacing will bring a significant long-term benefit to all road users.
“We appreciate that the closure will cause disruption, but we ask the public for their patience. Resurfacing is weather dependant so we will provide updates if there are any changes to the schedule.”
Advance warning signs will be in place and there will be a signed diversion during the road closure period.
Operatives working on site will be observing all Government guidelines on safe social distancing.
