Serious weekend accident near Skipton

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for information following a serious collision near Skipton on Sunday 14 November. 

It happened on the Colne and Broughton Road in Broughton between 2.30pm and 2.42pm, and it involved a dark blue coloured Vauxhall Astra and a red coloured Mitsubishi Outlander.

The Vauxhall is believed to have been travelling west on the A59 from the direction of Broughton and then southward on the A56 Colne and Broughton Road immediately before the collision.

The Mitsubishi is believed to have been travelling northwards on the A56 Colne and Broughton Road from the direction of Thornton-in-Craven, towards the direction of Broughton immediately before the collision.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a male aged in his 70s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

The driver of the Mitsubsishi, a male in his 60s, and a female passenger in her 60s, both suffered serious injuries and were also taken to hospital.

All emergency services were in attendance working together to deal with the incident.

The road remained closed for a number of hours to allow officers to investigate the scene and recover the vehicles.
