The Settle to Carlisle line is on track for a record-breaking year after hitting a massive passenger milestone. Figures released today show nearly one million journeys were made on the scenic route in 2025—the highest since the pandemic. With the line’s 150th anniversary approaching this May, operators are expecting even bigger crowds. To celebrate, thousands of £1.50 tickets are being released, and a special chartered steam train will run between Carlisle and York on May 25th.
