The Dales is in the grips of the worst storm in what some say is decades, with winds already reported to have exceeded 100mph at Tan Hill.
Trees are down across the area. Earlier this morning Gargrave Road in Skipton was closed because of a fallen tree and currently Grassington Road is closed. The A684 West of Bedale has been closed for the same reason and a tree, now cleard by locals was blocking the road in West Burton. The A65 at Coniston was partially block by a falling tree and the A684 between Garsdale and Appersett Near Birkrigg was also closed.
The M6 north of Tebay to Scotland is littered with overturned lorries and the A19 was blocked due to an overturned lorry.
Many bus services across the Dales have been cancelled.
There has been serious disruption to rail services, with no trains north of Preston on the West Coast mainline and similarly north of Newcastle on the East Coast. Earlier all trains from Leeds to Skipton were cancelled.
There has been disruption to flights too. At Leeds Bradford many flights have been cancelled or seriously delayed.
You're being advised to only travel if necessary.
