Stranger danger in Settle

Police warn parents to be vigilant after an incident in Settle

On Friday 21st November 2025 at about 15:30hrs, a black or dark grey transit type van with a white roof stopped a 11 year old male walking home from school on Church Street, Settle.

The driver described as a white male between 40 and 50 years of age, with a black hooded top worn up, and a black neck tube.

The male was described to have brown hair and brown stubble. The male said to the boy that he knew his parents and the boy should get into the van.   The boy ignored the male and called his mother.

The good thinking of this young male was absolutely spot on, and we applaud his actions.

If anyone saw anything, or has had experienced anything similar, please contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote 1225022311.  If anything like this happens, please call 999 at the time.

Police say whilst they haven't had any other reports, please remain vigilant and encourage children about stranger dangers.
